Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin

Monkey 47 Reviewed by Gin School; distillery has not claimed entry

One of the world's most coveted gins, Monkey 47 is distilled in Germany's Black Forest, where 47 botanicals are batch-distilled and rested in earthenware. It draws on three worlds — British gin tradition, the spice routes of India and the wild Schwarzwald, which lends its spruce, lingonberry, sloe and elderflower. The nose is forest-fresh: bright citrus and eucalyptus over soft lavender and chamomile; the palate turns oily and complex, liquorice and dark blackberry giving way to a long, dry, peppery finish of lemongrass and pine. A connoisseur's pour at 47% ABV.
