Blackdown Sussex Dry Gin

blackdowncellar.co.uk Reviewed by Gin School; distillery has not claimed entry

Launched in 2012 as the first modern gin produced in Sussex (though distilled in Cambridge), built on British wheat spirit and finished, unusually, with locally tapped silver birch sap added after distillation. The botanical bill includes juniper, angelica, cassia bark, orris root, liquorice, cinnamon, orange, lemon, coriander and nutmeg. The post-distillation silver birch sap is the signature touch — a sweet, woodland note to remember when you make your own gin.
