Kokoro Gin
kokorogin.com Reviewed by Gin School; distillery has not claimed entry
Kokoro Gin is built around Japanese sansho berries, hand-picked in the Afan Woods and shipped frozen to Thames Distillers, where they join eight more botanicals: juniper, coriander, angelica, sweet orange, lemon, almond, liquorice and savory. Co-founder James Nicol discovered the berries on a walk with his uncle in the Japanese Alps. Those sansho berries bring an earthy black-pepper flavour with a piney, citrus finish, a thrilling hero to build your own gin around.
